About me
Annabel Soode (born 2004) is a vocal artist based in Berlin, working at the intersection of art music and contemporary sound practices. She is currently studying classical singing with Prof. Anna Samuil at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. From the 2026/2027 season, she will join the Dutch National Opera Studio.
Her operatic repertoire includes Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Vanemuine Theatre, Tartu, Estonia, 2025/26), Lapák (the dog) and Datel (the woodpecker) in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen (Příhody lišky Bystroušky) (Estonian National Opera, Tallinn, 2026), and the title role Heba in Malle Maltis’ new opera Raasulapsuke (Narva Opera Days, Estonia, 2024/25). She also performed in the premiere of Fabrizio Nastari’s mono-opera A Student’s Tale (Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Tallinn, 2024).
Her music theatre work includes Astra Irene Susi’s Un_stus (Südalinna Theatre, Estonia, 2025), the opera-installation optais amme by Sofia Filippou (Ungru, Estonia, 2024), as well as multimedia performances such as Essential Fears by Einike Leppik (Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Tallinn, 2024) and Ethics by Paavo Piik (Cinema Theatre, Tallinn, 2023).
In concert repertoire, she has performed Mozart’s Krönungsmesse, Odysseia by Kirke Karja (Jazzkaar Festival, Tallinn, 2026), Britten’s Les Illuminations, Tõnu Kõrvits’ Moorland Elegies (solo parts), Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder, Arvo Pärt’s L’abbé Agathon, Alban Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder, Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, Berio’s Folk Songs, Respighi’s Il tramonto, as well as works by Korngold, Ravel, Delage, Copland, Barber, Shostakovich, Richard Strauss, Rachmaninov, and others.

Annabel Soode has received numerous awards, including the Jane Carty Memorial Prize at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition (2025). She has participated in the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in Dublin, the Estonian TV competition for young classical musicians Classical Stars, and the Klaudia Taev Competition. She won the Tallinn Talent Prize in 2021 and 2023, the First Prize at the Estonian Vocalists’ Competition in 2022, and Third Prize at the Vello Jürna Competition in 2022. In 2025, she was awarded the Estonian Young Singer Prize.
She has performed with orchestras including the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Opera Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, Narva City Orchestra, Alekton Ensemble, and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre Symphony Orchestra. She has collaborated with conductors such as Kaspar Mänd, Arvo Volmer, Risto Joost, Mihhail Gerts, Aleksander Bražnik, Kaur Pennert, Dimitris Rizos, Ode Pürg, Ingrid Mänd, and Rasmus Puur, as well as pianists Matthias Samuil, Jaanika Rand-Sirp, Piia Paemurru, Kärt Ruubel, and others. Her concert programming often seeks a dialogue between contemporary music and established repertoire.
For the 2023/2024 season, she participated in the LIFT mentoring programme for young musicians, organised by Eesti Kontsert. In previous seasons, she received the Elfrida and Erich Rämmeld Memorial Scholarship for young opera singers at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she studied with Monika Hauswalter and pianist Piia Paemurru. She has also been supported by scholarships from the Deutsch-Estnische Gesellschaft, the Giovanni Omodeo Foundation, and the Riina and Jaanus Pikani Foundation.
